Ceramic Coating in Leander, TX: Cost, Prep, and What to Expect

Ceramic coating applied to a car's paint by KlenCars in Leander, TX

If you live in Leander, your paint deals with more than most. Dust from new construction, limestone grit, Hill Country wind, and brake dust from the daily 183 Toll commute all leave a film on your car, and some of it bonds right into the clear coat. A wash takes off the top layer. A ceramic coating makes it much harder for that grime to stick in the first place.

KlenCars is a local family business based right here in Leander, and we apply ceramic coatings in your garage or driveway. Here's what it costs, how the process works, and how to choose the right package for your vehicle.

How much does ceramic coating cost in Leander?

We offer two Ceramic Coating packages, and both include machine paint correction:

  • 5-Year Ceramic Coating, from $699. Includes 1-step paint correction prep, a 5-year ceramic coating on the clear coat, and a hydrophobic surface that sheds water and grime. Best for daily drivers and newer vehicles that need long-term gloss and easier washes.
  • 10-Year Ceramic Coating, from $899. Includes 2-step paint correction (a compounding cut, then a jewel finishing polish), a 10-year professional ceramic coating, and ceramic on the wheel faces and exterior glass. Best for enthusiast and luxury vehicles you plan to keep for the long haul.

These are starting prices. Final pricing depends on your vehicle's size and condition, and we confirm the exact quote before your appointment, so there are no surprise charges.

Why Leander paint needs more than a wash

Leander is growing fast, and all that building leaves construction dust and limestone grit on every car in town. Add the 183 Toll commute and weekend drives out toward Lake Travis, and your paint takes a real beating. Bonded iron and embedded grime don't come off with soap and a mitt. If a coating goes on over them, they get sealed in.

That's why every KlenCars coating starts with full decontamination. We remove the iron fallout and clay the paint, so the polish and the coating bond to a truly clean surface instead of a layer of dirt.

Why paint correction comes first

A ceramic coating locks in whatever is underneath it. If your paint has swirl marks, haze, or wash marring, a coating seals those in for years. So we polish first.

  • The 5-Year package includes a 1-step finishing polish that reduces light swirl marks, haze, and wash marring and brings out paint depth and clarity.
  • The 10-Year package includes a 2-step correction, a heavier compounding cut followed by a jewel finishing polish, for deeper swirls, scratches, and oxidation.

We inspect your paint under dedicated lighting before we start. Paint correction is the prep step built into every coating package. For more detail, read Paint Correction Explained: Why Coating Prep Matters.

What happens on coating day

  1. We inspect the paint under dedicated lighting to map its defects.
  2. We give it a safe foam wash and full decontamination with an iron fallout remover and a clay bar.
  3. We machine polish the paint to refine swirls, haze, and wash marring.
  4. We wipe down each panel to remove polishing oils, leaving a bare surface for the coating to bond to.
  5. We apply the ceramic coating to the painted panels, then level and flash it to the manufacturer's spec.
  6. On the 10-Year package, we also coat the wheel faces and exterior glass.

A ceramic coating can take most of a day, and we confirm the expected time before your appointment. You don't have to be there the whole time. Once we're set up and have access to the vehicle, you can go about your day. Our mobile rig brings its own water and power, so you don't need to provide a hookup.

We keep an eye on the forecast and will reach out to reschedule if heavy rain or storms would affect the quality of the work. A garage or light cover helps, but it isn't required for most services.

5-Year or 10-Year: which should you choose?

Pick the 5-Year if you drive a newer car or daily driver with paint in decent shape and you want years of easy-clean gloss without paying for the deepest prep.

Pick the 10-Year if your paint has deeper swirls, scratches, or oxidation, if you plan to keep the vehicle for a long time, or if you want your wheel faces and glass coated too.

Not sure which one fits? Send us your year, make, and model through the quote form and we'll recommend one.

What a coating does (and what it doesn't)

A coating sheds water, grime, and bird droppings instead of letting them bond, so your next wash is faster and safer. It also protects against UV, oxidation, and chemical staining, and one coating replaces years of reapplying spray wax every few months.

It still isn't magic armor. A coating is a sacrificial layer, and how long it lasts depends on your washing habits, garage storage, and whether you follow the cure period after we apply it. Our 5-Year is rated for five years and our 10-Year for ten, with proper maintenance.
